My failure was an "Unable to Charge" message but yet the car charged full every night, then the check engine light popped and the Volt crew here affirmed the BECM was on it's way out. Some others have reported a limp-home mode along with no climate controls and where the gas engine was doing all of the propulsion work. Funny side story,

On the highway I use always the Range Extender Engine, while I drive in cities using the battery power. I always drive in L, because I want to use it for the braking action and recuperation.
